In India, the hotels have embarked on an ambitious corporate sustainability (CS) endeavor. First, what are CS and CSR, how are they similar and different; and why would a firm (any firm) engage in CS/CSR activity? Provide research/data to support why a firm would engage in CS/CSR. What are these CS/CSR activities at Taj and how do they work? What makes them CS/CSR projects? Does CS/CSR activity conflict with the profit objective of a business? What role does culture (not just Indian culture) play in the likelihood that a company will engage in CS/CSR.
