Week 5 Discussion: Project Proposal Refinement
Description
As you consider the last 4 weeks in this class and your work on the proposal, answer the following questions:
- In readiness for your project proposal what elements (name them) present challenges for refinement or further development?
- Describe your plan for meeting these challengesand refining your project proposal.
- Discuss communication you have had with the practicesite and stakeholders in readiness for project implementation.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS DISCUSSION II
Influence of Literature Review on Quantitative Design
The literature review that was completed last week has a significant influence on the
qualitative study design and implementation methodology that will be utilized to conduct my
project thesis. First, most studies involving high-fidelity simulations as a method of teaching or
intervention for student nurses and/or new nurses with less than one year of experience, which
involved study deigns with data collection on two levels. The two-level method of data
collection was gathered during the pretest and posttest stage of the qualitative study. Pretest
involves data collection before exposing study subjects to the intervention (Little, 2020). On the
other hand, the posttest involved data collection after exposing subjects to the intervention
(Little, 2020). The data analysis aspect of the quality improvement study involves comparing the
pretest and posttest data. Therefore, this methodology of data collection and study design is what
inspired me to decide on conducting a pretest-posttest study design as the most effective way for
finalizing my quality improvement project. [ADD A CITATION ON PRE/POST TEST

Ethical Factors
When considering ethical factors in relation to the methodology of the study that is being
conducted, in which ethical principles are to be adhered to throughout the entire process while
conducting an any study that utilizes human participant. These ethical principles include
autonomy, privacy, confidentiality, data security, consent process, among others (Zolkefli,
2021). The priority component of my thesis focuses on self-efficacy as it relates to the behavioral
aspect in new nurses and/or nursing students as well as gathering research data on assessing their
3
clinical judgement and reasoning behind specific interventions they implement during the highfidelity simulation that will reenact a code blue call. [ADD CITATION FROM BURDANA PER
PROFESSORàSUGGESTION] Many ethical factors also relate to the population and sample
that are targets of my project. These include, but are not limited to, concerns about anonymity,
confidentiality, and informed consent. First, I will address concerns about informed consent by
informing all participants utilized in the ex about everything that will be involved with their
participation and involvement as well as the methods of the study, after which I will leave them
to make a deliberate and well-informed decision as to whether or not they will decide to
participate in the analysis. I will also address any issues or concerns of confidentiality by
expressing to the participants that I will only be using the data that is collected throughout the
Quality Improvement project for the sole purpose of the quality improvement project. As for
anonymity, any concerns will be addressed and due to being in contact with all participants in the
quality improvement study on a regular basis, this will not be considered anonymous, but their
information will be kept strictly confidential. External parties will not be allowed access to any
information regarding the project. I will keep their information secret through all means. For this
regard of confidentiality, I will use manual methods that include physically locking all weekly
reflections along with participant personal reflection journals that will be placed into a safe and
will encrypt all collected data that is stored on my laptop via the usage of high-degree passwords
along with only my fingerprint that can be used to gain access so that no one by myself can
access the information.
Demographic Data
After careful reconsideration based on comments from my professor along with previous
conversations I have had with the Project Chair, I will not be collecting demographic data from
4
my project sample. Demographical data that will be excluded from the project include age,
gender, marital status, and education level. This is due to demographical information being an
insignificant variable and is irrelevant to the quality improvement project. The quality
improvement project will also not require demographic information as part of the project
variables, which is the reasoning for such information to be irrelative for the methodology and
entirety of my project in relation to high-fidelity simulations to assess self-efficacy as it relates to
behavior in failure to rescue case scenarios.
