Valencia College Chapter 7 Crime Theories Presentation

Review the Six General Theories of Crime discussed in Chapter 7 of your textbook.

Choose two.

Create a PowerPoint Presentation. The presentation will be uploaded. The PowerPoint will include a minimum of 10 slides to include a title slide and a references slide. The PowerPoint Presentation will cover the following:

1. What is criminality?

2. Discuss each of the two theories you chose.

3. Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the two theories.

4. Research a criminal case you feel the theory you chose would apply. 

Example (you cannot use this crime example in your PowerPoint, however you may use the theory)

Wilson and Herrnstein’s General Theory basically states that a person will determine to commit crime based on evaluating if the risks outweigh the rewards.  The white collar crimes committed by Bernie Madoff would apply to this theory. In my PowerPoint, I would go into detail on the theory and then into detail on how it applies directly to Madoff.  The theorist stated xyz which applies directly to the actions xyz of Madoff, etc.C
