Guidelines for completing a Graphic Organizer 

You will have several assignments that use a graphic organizer.  A graphic organizer is a research-based strategy to use in your classroom to help students organize their notes or thoughts.   It can become a study guide for a reading assignment in any subject and any grade beginning with 2nd grade.

When filling out the graphic organizer you will pick out the most important sub-topics from the assigned article.  Write these headings in the heading boxes and then list below the details that go with it.  All the articles have a lot of details.   If it is a type of research be sure to list the research details, results and conclusions.  If it is something that has numbered steps, include all the steps.   Your graphic organizer should cover the whole article and all main points.  Every box of the graphic organizer should be completed.  Be sure you use as many details as possible on this assignment.  Writing big does not count as filling in the box.
