UTD Healthcare Delivery Questions

You are the hospital administer of a mid-size hospital that was recently in the newspaper for long wait times, both at the emergency room and for receiving medical care. Some delays have been over two weeks for surgical procedures, unfortunately leading to a few deaths. Because of this concern, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services is sending a team down to conduct a monitoring visit. One possible result of the visit is a reduction or complete loss of federal funding. In preparation for the visit, you gather a team to complete an internal audit using the Lean method.

What precisely are you charging the team to do?

1. Who will help communicate this effort to all frontline staff?
2. What kinds of systems need to be created to track progress?
3. What external resources could be utilized?
