UTA Police Killing Of Tyre Nichols Case Study
Description
Based on the video that’s been released plus the officers being criminally charged, I have these questions I’d like you to provide a response:
1. What culture would have to exist in a department for officers to think they could “get away” with that? (Keep in mind, these officers were wearing functioning body cameras)
2. Why did no other employee/first responder step in to stop the actions of the officers?
3. Was the hiring process flawed to have employed people who would beat someone? (Yes, I know I am judging the officers based only on information released in the media. However, I find it almost impossible to believe information could come out that would justify what I saw on the video.)
4. How do the “good officers” in Memphis respond to criticism from the public going forward?
5. What kind of training could be implemented to address this???? Or is this even a training issue???
