For this discussion we are utilizing the 12-1 box “Love is in the Air and on the Web. Please be sure you have read chapter 12 before doing this exercise. With the current “Covid 19” situation, these sites have become increasing popular. If you haven’t utilized an on-line meeting site, please find one and take a look. Click on the “Love is in the air and on the web” link above to explore and learn more about some of the more popular sites. If you don’t want to actually enter a site, do some search engine exploration to find out more about a couple sites. If you choose to explore a few you might not be familiar with, be sure to use an e-mail address you don’t use often so your own personal address isn’t slammed with advertisements or “matches”. (or use some other made up…not used e-mail address) Since you aren’t really looking for a match, you can post any bogus information you wish. Don’t use any of your personal info. I don’t want anyone to feel I am pushing you into a dating website….just use your own level of comfort to either personally explore a site or two…..or just google some info about it and ask some friends who might have used some of the sites.

After reading the material, answer the discussion question prompts in the 12-1 box (the questions in the “let’s discuss” section of the box) along with the following prompts;

1. How do you feel about the fact that they are becoming increasingly specific in group selection. Since long term success of a relationship is more likely with homogamous marriages, does it make sense for someone to use a site which screens the participants? Or, does the narrowing of possible mates restrict access to someone who might be the perfect “opposite”?

2. Is it something you might use if your current situation/relationship would end? How do you feel about people who use these services? Do you see these sites as “hook up” sites or do you believe that someone can find real love using such filters/sites.
