Description

Instructional Design Project 2

In this project, you and/or your partner (if you work in a group- not required) will choose two lessons from the unit outline you submitted in project 1(each group member will choose a different lesson) and we will begin the process of creating your own original lessons. You will utilize the information from the standards and unit outline to develop learning objectives/outcomes for the two lessons you have selected. When developing your objective determine the desired results you want for your lesson; what should the students be able to do based on what they learned from the lesson.

Letàbegin by talking about what we mean by desired results. As you have learned, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has developed a standard course of study for each content area to provide teachers direction in their planning. Using these standards, we want to develop objectives. This isn a new practice. In fact in 1949 Ralph Tyler (1949, p. 45) wrote, (e purpose of a statement of objectives is to indicate the kinds of changes in the student to be brought about so that the instructional activities can be planned and developed in a way likely to attain these objectives: that is, to bring about these changes in students. yler is reinforcing the idea that objectives should be behavioral and reflect what students should know and be able to do by the end of the lesson.

So, using what you have learned about objectives, you will utilize the provided template to provide the required objective information for each of your lessons.

As mentioned previously, in this project, you will be using the grade level and content from the unit outline submitted by you and your partner (or just you if you are working alone). You will then identify two lessons from that outline and use the standard and goal information to develop the objective and identify the corresponding level of BloomàRevised Taxonomy. Examples of a standard and corresponding learning outcome/objective for different grade levels and content areas are in the table below.

The standards and corresponding learning outcomes provide focus and direction to the lesson plan. Remember, the learning outcome states what the student will know and be able to do as a result of what they learned in the lesson. In terms of a lesson plan, the learning outcome states what the student will know and be able to do. The focus is on the student and not on any action or behavior of the teacher. The other elements of assessment and the instructional activity will come in later projects. (That is my teaser .ot very exciting, is it.)

A template has been provided to assist you in completing the project. I have also included an example, which you can use as a reference in completing your project. After you have completed the template and before submitting the project on Canvas, please be sure to complete a self-assessment using the provided rubric. This will help to make sure you have completed all elements of the assignment.

You are required to use the Project 2 template:Project 2 Template-1.docx
