UL Gather Information Question
Description
For this section I have to write about a Data Collection Methodology which is: Interview
Below is the scenerio:.
The Chemistry Department at the University of Louisville has a unique job description, Chemistry Electronics Technician. The incumbent in this position will retire shortly, and the department leadership is considering using the funding for that position to create a completely new job description. The incumbent was hired nearly twenty years ago, and there is considerable opinion that the departmentàneeds are now different. One possible direction for this repurposing is the creation of a machine shop and mechanical designer position. A Needs Assessment should be conducted to determine the real needs of the department, and to direct the creation of both the resulting job description and the supporting equipment to enable the new hire to execute their duties.
This section should contain three distinct sub-sections for each data collection tool recommended (e.g., survey, interview, focus group). Each subsection should describe:
The rationale for using the specific data collection tool.
Who will be interviewed, surveyed, observed, etc.
- The sampling methodology. Be clear on what
- group(s) will be canvassed, the sampling strategy
- for each group and how each group will be asked to
participate. The invitation/solicitation to participate
should be in the appendix (e.g., email requesting the
participant to participate).
Rationale/justification for the tool and sampling
approach.
- Estimates on the amount of time needed for to
collect information.
- Limitations to the instruments and methodology.
Summary of how the data collected will be analyzed
