UCI Performance of Sadler Wells Ballet in London and Moscow Discussion
Question Description
Politics, Obstacles and Opportunities in Dance
Dance has been linked, consciously or unconsciously, to politics from the time dance has reflected the social and religious of aspirations of a culture. Some choreographers believe it is their responsibility to reveal intimate truths about humanity and utilize dance for change, awareness, and as a political platform. This may include politically driven dance for the masses, political choreography, and productions, as well as production elements that make political statements. And dancers may become entwined in politics on the stage or off as they face and overcome obstacles. Dance cane serve as magnifying glass for the issues which are important to dance artists, including choreographers and producers, and to the dancers themselves.
