This homework is an opportunity for you to read the real ìobalization7orking in a
sector/industry (i.e. Application). This is team homework (same team members as for your
course team project) and the team will prepare a presentation on the )ghlights&rom an
assigned åctor#hapter in Part Four (The Picture in Different Sectors).
You are encouraged to bring in any latest additional information to the topic through your
research and example(s).
The advantage of this type of homework – all learn a lot more in a shorter time and gets the
students to develop skills to interpret text and prepare presentation. Team prepares their
own unique presentation (not copy from the textbook website; you can copy the figures only,
per requirement).
In all the chapters so far you all learned about the mechanics of how TNCs and States
operate (their objectives, operational mechanics, policies, impact of FDI & International
bodies, etc.) (ere you are actually going to see how a major industry sector goes about
that global business )n project terminology, this is called mplementation or execution or
application0hase.
The presentation will cover the following aspects of the sector/industry -ost of it from the
book chapter and some latest info from you research (content 12 to 15 slides including the
title and reference slides
– Introduction: The sector, background and importance
– Some Global statistics of the sector (size of trade, employment, type of skills/knowledge
needed, etc., from the book and current data from other research)
– Example of a Production circuit in the section (figure from the book, or from research,
both as necessary)
– Global shifts, as it applies to the sector/industry, with quantification.
– Impacts of technology on the sector (existing as described in the book, future from
reserach)
– Example Leading Players today and roles NCs, Nation-State and others (from
research)
– Any trade or other agreements that drive the sector/industry (national or international)
– Conclusion: Your thoughts about the sectoràfuture in the ore’lobalized world
infused with your research
