Theories of Personality Journal

Instructions
The journal is your opportunity to apply theories of personality in an analysis of the world around you. Select
ONE of the following topics to address in your journal. Do not address all topics; select one topic as the focus
of your journal entry. In your journal, you do not have to address all the reflective questions listed for that
topic, use the reflective questions to guide your thinking about the relevance and application of theories of
personality. Your journal entry should be directly relevant to the ideas, terms, theories, concepts and/or
research from Chapters chapter 8, 9 or 10. If you applied a theory of personality to your own life for a
discussion question, you must use a different theory for the focus of your journal (you may NOT repeat a
discussion response in your journal).

How is the material in this module relevant to your life? What can you learn from these theories,
topics or concepts? Does the material challenge any of your old opinions? Or does the material
challenge you to form any new opinions? How can you apply what you have learned to better
understand your life? What is the value of this information for making sense of your life?
An understanding of personality can be seen in virtually every aspect of the world around us. How
can you apply the terms, concepts and theories discussed in this module to better understand current
events? What is the relevance of the material from this module to the events being discussed by the
media? Apply your understanding of the material in this module to gain a better understanding of
current events and/or information in the media.
Are you surprised by the research findings cited in this module? Why or why not? How can this
research be utilized in a practical fashion? What concerns do you have about the research discussed
in this module? What research would you like to see (or conduct) to gain a better understanding of
the concepts and theories in this module?
Journal entries should be 1-page (12-point font, 1-inch margins, double-spaced; do NOT include a heading or
your name at the top of the journal entry).
