The University of Texas Actors and Observers Attributions Discussion
Question Description
In the study by Storms (1973), it appeared that the change in perspective by the actors looking at the videotape from the observers’ viewpoint had to do with their becoming less inclined to attribute their own behavior to the situation (the other person they were talking to) rather than more inclined to attribute their behavior to a disposition. How do you explain both halves of the finding (less situational attribution but not more dispositional attribution)?
