Statistics Question
Description
Research P2P lending in preparation for the assignment.
Using multiple sources (e.g., websites), learn about P2P lending sufficiently that you can interpret the results of your analysis effectively.
- Make sure you know the following:
Why would someone borrow in a P2P lending situation?
Why would someone provide the loan in a P2P lending situation?
- Whatàthe difference between P2P lending and lending from a bank or from a payday loan company?
- Explore the Prosper website and ensure you understand the ranking system and how it relates to interest rates.
Keep track of all the sources you use in this process and add them to the tables
- Step 2. Research data governance and write a summary for your boss.
- When borrowers and lenders engage with P2P Canadaàwebsite to apply for a loan or to fund a loan, they, be providing significant personal information. P2P Canada has an obligation to protect that data and to manage it in an ethical way. As a side project, your boss has asked you to write a brief report on data governance so that P2P Canada can begin the conversation about how to manage the customer data effectively and ethically.
- To do this, research data governance through multiple sources (e.g., websites, books, articles), to find out the following:
- What is data governance?
What are some best practices in engaging in ethical data governance?
- What is the life cycle of data?
How can you apply what you¥ learned to P2P Canada?
- Take what you¥ learned and write a maximum one-page report. The sections (and their headings) for the report are:
Para 1: Data governance
- Brief description of what data governance is. (3 to 4 sentences max)
- Para 2: Life cycle of data
Briefly describe the stages of data lifecycle management. (point form)
- Para 3: Engaging in ethical data governance
- Thinking about what P2P Canada is doing as a P2P company, highlight three key best practices of data governance that would directly relate to P2P Canada. Explain why they are important to P2P Canada.
- Para 4: References
- Insert references directly used in the report using proper APA format
- Step 3: the data.
Open the Excel spreadsheet for the assignment and read through the columns. Then look at the rows to see the kind of data included in each column.
- Look through the dictionary provided in the appendix to learn what each specific column represents.
Make sure you understand what each variable (column) represents and tells us about the borrower
- Step 4. Collect a probability sample from the data in the spreadsheet. (Review Week 1 content to help you find your sample)
- Choose an appropriate probability sampling technique.
Implement that technique to collect a sample of 500 borrowers in Excel.
- Write a short summary of what you¥ done:
- Write one or two sentences that explain why you chose the sampling technique.
Write the step-by-step process used to collect the probability sample. The process needs to be written as an enumerated list (e.g., Step 1, Step 2, etc.).
- Hint: The part that makes it a probability sample is the most important part of the process.
- Include the names of the functions you used to collect the probability portion of the sample.
NOTE: If we were doing this for an actual business, we would not do this step and instead would use all of the data. As we are in a course and need to practice taking probability samples, we are doing this step. That is, this is not normal analytics practice.
- For steps 3 and 4, you, be submitting an Excel file with your probability sample. Name the tab with the sample data !ta In the Word document that you, submit, you will include the written components of Step 4.
