A mandated reporter is any professional who in their capacity is required by law to report any cases of abuse; confirmed or suspected to the relevant authorities. The most targeted population are termed a vulnerable population. They include the elderly, children etc. In the state of Georgia, their Mandated Reporter Law clearly defines abuse as one, physical harm (Allnock & Atkinson, 2019) or the death of a child whose cause is not accidental. Secondly, neglect by a guardian or parent taking care of the child is also deemed as abuse. Also, any endangerment of the child, their abuse or exploitation sexually should be treated as abuse. This being said the following professionals are the legally-mandated reporters by the State of Georgia in case of any reasonable cause to suspect abuse. They include physicians even interns, any medical personnel (Rapoport et al., 2021), dentists, podiatrists, licensed psychologists, registered nurses, social workers, law enforcement personnel, school teachers, school counsellors etc.

          In case a mandated suspects abuse, he or she should first notify the in charge of the facility (Laskey et al., 2022) be it a school or hospital. Secondly, the in-charge personnel will then make the relevant report to the relevant authority according to the subsection of this law. At no point should the in charge make any alterations or modifications to the report from the reporter. However, only relevant additions may be added but with full consultations of the above-mentioned parties. As a registered nurse if I have any reason to suspect that a 13-year-old girl under my care has been abused physically I am mandated to report it. An example of a report I would make is  Jason a 13-year-old orphan living with a guardian is admitted to hospital with bruised arms, back, head and face. Upon asking the cause, he fidgets and says he fell down the stairs. When I notified him that I would call the guardian in, he adamantly refuses and crawls into the corner of the bed.¼/p>
