It is beneficial for all health care employees to understand their role in the organization’s revenue cycle. Creating a flowchart of the revenue cycle is one way to illustrate the process. The document you create for this assignment will be informative and educational. It will help provide relevance and context for your team – showing how their work is interlinked to others’ in your organization, and why their role is so important.

• At the top of your document, provide a name for the organization you are depicting (this may be fictional or real). Then, state your audience.
  • [Example] Organization: University Regional Hospital, Audience: Billing office staff
• In approximately 400 words, summarize what the revenue cycle is, and why it is important for everyone to understand. Keep this information focused on your target audience.
• Create a flowchart using a program like Microsoft Word, or any software of your choosing.
• The content of your flowchart should represent the cyclical nature of a health care organization’s revenue cycle.
  • Revenue cycle activities (segments of your chart) should reflect your organization’s size and scope.
  • Be sure to include what stakeholders are involved in each step of the cycle. For example: Front office staff, physicians, patients, billing staff, etc.
• APA Requirements: A title and reference page are required. In-text citations are not necessary.
