South Louisiana Community College Endosymbiotic Theory Discussion Questions

I’m working on a biology discussion question and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.

We are obviously not able to travel back in time and verify with a 100% certainty what actually happened in the early evolution of cells.

1) Why is the endosymbiotic theory a viable explanation for the acquisition of mitochondria and chloroplasts? Please provide several pieces of evidence.

2) Please do some independent research on Dr. Lynn Margulis. Who was she? When and where did she live? What did she work on? (Your textbook has some information, or do a Google search, please cite your sources.)
