SNHU It Is the Citizens Responsibility to Know Historical Events Discussion Response
Description
disscusion reply
- What perspectives did your peers offer that you had not considered previously regarding the value of a historically informed population?
- Share other ways being more historically informed could help your peers understand or act on the community issue they identified
This is my colleagues’ statement: Citizens should have an average knowledge in historical events in order to make the best decisions when it comes to their communities in my opinion. It’s not a good idea to vote for something if you have no prior knowledge on it. It can also help to be more aware and have a realistic idea of your world and society. I personally am trying to widen my knowledge in historical events to better understand the world around me as I didn’t focus enough in high school, so I am trying to catch myself up. An event in my community would be the next election for the governor of Virginia. Being historically informed would help me to make the decision that I feel is best for the state and it’s people. It would also help to have productive discussions with the people around me.
