slideshow hum
Description
Slideshow
First, choose a theme that represents “the new”–but NOT technology. Modernism is all about “making it new,” so your theme should represent that sensibility. Be sure that you choose an abstract noun as your theme! If you’re not sure what an abstract noun is, here’s a link to a page that helps to define them: https://www.grammarly.com/blog/abstract-nouns/Links to an external site.
Second, start your slideshow with the abstract noun you have chosen and a definition of it–both from a dictionary and from your own life experience. You should also discuss why it is important in Modernism and why it is a relevant theme today (about 100 words). Your theme should be an idea that represents “the new” as you have come to think about it during this course, and your chosen artifacts should tie into it in a conceptual way.
Third, in your slideshow, include 2 of the following types of artifacts. Visual pieces should come from either our book or from Artstor (1820-1970), but you can find literature and music from sources on the internet, but they must also have been created between 1820-1970.
For each artifact, you’ll include the name of the artist and title of the work, the citation or link, and the year it was created. Put that info on one slide, then on another slide, discuss in 100 to 150 words why you chose that artifact to represent “the new”. (Please note that citation info does not apply to the word count!)
Choose two of the following:
One painting
One sculpture
One piece of literature (poem, excerpt from a book or essay)
One piece of music (this is the only exception for 1970 limit–you can choose music you listen to now)
One photograph
Finally, conclude with a paragraph summarizing your theme and its relevance in the 21st Century (100 words).
