Description
Experiment overview: Bromination of trans-cinnamic acid will be carried out using bromine solution in dichloromethane in a reflux apparatus. The resulting product will be isolated by filtration and identified by measuring its melting point. The melting point value will allow us to determine whether the addition of bromine takes place in a syn- or an anti-fashion.
