Write an essay (perhaps 4-6 pages in length) on one of the following topics. The essay should reveal your careful study of the text(s) and attentiveness to class discussions. Cite specific evidence (details, examples, and quotations) to support and to illustrate your points. Your essay should be clearly written, well organized, and persuasively argued. Proofread carefully to avoid mechanical errors and to make sure each sentence is clear and exact. Submit a hard copy and and an attachment by the due date for the topic you choose.

Sentimental Kitsch or Gripping Reality?: Argue that the film Schindler’s List does or does not present an accurate, enlightening perspective on the Holocaust. In developing your essay, cite particular views (positive and/or negative) presented in the four reviews of the film and draw parallels with a couple of other works we have read (such as those by Wiernik, Levi, Kluger, and Speigelman). Analyze specific scenes in and elements of the movie to support your position. (Due November 22)
