Over the course of the 20^th century and into the 21^st, the labor movement has had to adjust to changing circumstances in the way it conceives of itself and how it organizes. In this essay I want you to discuss how the labor movement changes in response to changing job structures, economic conditions, demographics and politics in the years between WWI and WWII and then again from the peak of union density in the U.S. in the mid-1950s to the end of the 20^th century. Conclude your essay with an assessment of what you think would work to make the labor movement a viable force in the 21^st century. Use at least one book that we’ve read during the semester as well as From the Folks Who Brought You the Weekend. (The last four chapters are essential.) The essay should be between 3 and 5 double spaced typed pages and should be submitted no later than December 20. There will be a Turnitin link on ilearn set up to receive your papers.
