Conflict is a normal part of any team experience. Understanding conflict and possessing skills and strategies to effectively manage it will facilitate and enhance the overall team effectiveness.

1. Complete the Conflict Resolution Styles Survey on pages 302-304 of your text ( or the one in the link above) .  Consider only one person in mind when you do the assessment.

2. Then prepare your report  responding to the questions listed below.

Describe EACH OF  the 5 styles of of conflict management. Include an advantage and a disadvantage  for each style. 

Describe how your scored on the assessment  by sharing your numbers. Include your most preferred and your least preferred style according to the assessment.

Discuss how/why the results from the assessment are accurate, what you expected or  how they contradict your true behavior. 

Describe a conflict situation in which you have been directly involved. Include:   

What the conflict about? How important was this issue to you?

Who was it with (friend, parent, boss, etc.)? How important was the relationship to you?

What conflict resolution style did you use in this situation and why?

Describe your effectiveness in managing this conflict using this style.

In retrospect, which other style might have also been effective and why?
