CCS: RELATIONSHIP ANALYSIS:
The purpose of this Comprehensive Case Study is to demonstrate your understanding of the interpersonal communication concepts taught in this course. This will be accomplished through a relationship analysis: the analysis of communication between characters in a film.
Format & Content:
Project Format: PPT, Prezi, or some other presentation tool
Includes the following parts:
Introduction: provide a brief summary of the film, a brief description of the relationship (s) you¥ chosen to analyze, and an overview of the concepts you will apply to the relationship (s).
Body (Relationship Analysis): Apply concepts to specific examples of communicative behavior in the relationship you¥ chosen to analyze
Choose six different chapters, and one concept from each of those chapters as the focus of your relationship analysis (total of 6 chapters = total of 6 concepts):
Two chapters Unit 1 (Ch: 1,2,3,4) THEN, one concept from each of those chapters
Two chapters Unit 2 (Ch: 5,6,7,8) THEN, one concept from each of those chapters
Two chapters Unit 3 (Ch: 9,10,11,12, 13) THEN, one concept from each of those chapters
- Conclusion: wrap-up the project with a satisfying conclusion
Bibliography: APA or MLA
- In the BODY portion:
IDENTIFY the chapter title & the concept you¥ addressing;
DEFINE concept & provide parenthetical citation;
- LINK to the scene in the film (no more than 2 minutes); set up the scene you’re about to show
APPLY concept to specific interpersonal communication between characters in the film
- IMPORTANT NOTE: NO general topic areas (listening, nonverbal, emotions, etc.) and NO claims without support
EXTEND for 3 of your chosen concepts: Just like in the Chapter Content Applications, you will EXTEND your concept to credible outside sources. These sources must tell us something NEW about the concept that we did not already know from reading the chapter. How does this source go more in depth than whatàin the chapter? Connect/contrast your Extend material with your film example.
DO NOT USE A MOVIE CLIP FROM ANOTHER FILM as your EXTEND!!
