1. A beam has a concentrated load as shown. If the maximum bending moment is 300 Nm determine: a) FB; b) reaction forces at A and C;
2. If the cross section of the beam in problem 1 is as shown, calculate the stress on the top and bottom of the section when bending moment is 300 Nm.
3.The beam in the previous problem is also subject to a tensile force that adds a tensile stress,on the beam, of 10 MPa. Calculate the total stress in this case and determine the new position of the neutral axis.
4. Determine the maximum beam deflection and compare to the maximum allowable deflection. Select Structural Steel. Is the design safe from deflection point of view?[Use ymax-allow = L/360 (mm) for structural steel]
