My professor gave me comments on the outline, I’m going to share that here.

I think it’s a good idea to focus on the idea of the human soul. As of now, your thesis statement is just a topic, not an argument. However, I think your argument is about socialist morality and also about fantasy– which means that what you really need to compose your paper of, are close readings of specific fantasy moments of the text. What makes each moment a “fantasy” moment, rather than something more realist and straight-forward? And how does the fantasy element reinforce the larger socialist moral point about the soul that this text is making? The larger point is what you’re saying, I think– that Chagataev can’t force the soul to conform to his pre-conceived notions about what Stalinist progress should be about. So, I’d like you to think about your paragraph structure now and anchor each paragraph around one particular moment in the text in which “fantasy” unfolds, and how that fantasy element points towards that larger point. I would just go through the text chronologically, pick out 5-6 of these moments and write a paragraph on each. I hope this helps!
