Palm Beach State College Week 3 Gender Identity Model Essay

Palm Beach State College Week 3 Gender Identity Model Essay

Palm Beach State College Week 3 Gender Identity Model Essay

Question Description

This week, you will complete your Cultural Identity Development assignment. In Week 1, you completed the “ADDRESSING-GSA Self-Assessment.” In Week 2, you applied a racial/ethnic identity development model. In Week 3, you will apply another cultural identity development model.

Consider the “ADDRESSING-GSA Self-Assessment” Week 1 Assignment. What are different components, identities, and group statuses to your cultural identity? Consider these parts of your cultural identity, and apply another cultural identity development model to yourself. Below are potential options to choose from. For example, your gender, religion/spirituality, or sexual/affectional/romantic orientation.

You will use a peer-reviewed cultural identity development model from the Walden Library, either from the list of recommend resources or from your own search in the Walden Library. You will continue to gain clarity of your own cultural development as you apply another identity development model to yourself in order to gain understanding of how various aspects to your identity intersect and impact your worldview, values, and beliefs.

Directions for Assignment:

This week, you will choose one cultural identity development model to apply to yourself. You are welcome to choose from the options provided under the Learning Resources (related to “Gender Identity Development,” “Religious and Spiritual Identity Development,” and “Sexual/Affectional/Romantic Orientation Development”) or find another peer-reviewed cultural identity developmental model from the Walden Library. Based on the model you choose, self-reflect on your own identity development that is specific to this model.

The final section of the “Cultural Identity Development” model is the “Other Cultural Identity Development.” In approximately 2 pages, include the following:

  • Describe the cultural identity development model you applied to yourself.
  • Explain each stage, and provide examples of your own developmental involvement in at least two of the stages you have experienced.
  • Explain insights you have gained about your own cultural identity by applying the model to yourself.

To Prepare for Assignment:

Review all of the required materials under Learning Resources. Review directions for the week’s Activity as well as for the entire module.

The “Cultural Identity Development” paper is a cumulative assignment is due at the end of Module 1 (Day 7 of Week 3). Complete each component of the assignment in the week that it has been assigned:

  • Week 3: “Other Cultural Identity Development”

Each section will be approximately 2 pages in length, resulting in a 6-page Reflection Paper. Again, the final “Cultural Identity Development”

Write the final “Cultural Identity Development” paper, which must include the following:

  • Include a brief summary of your “ADDRESSING-GSA Self-Assessment” assignment.
  • Explain the cultural groups you identify with that are considered part of the dominant/more privileged groups, as well as part of the non-dominant/more marginalized groups in the society you live in.
  • Describe how these different parts of your identity impact your worldview.
  • Describe the racial and/or ethnic cultural identity development model(s) you applied to yourself.
    • Explain each stage, and provide examples of your own developmental involvement in at least two of the stages you have experienced.
    • Explain insights you have gained about your own racial and/or ethnic identity by applying the model to yourself.
  • Describe the cultural identity development model you applied to yourself.
    • Explain each stage, and provide examples of your own developmental involvement in at least two of the stages you have experienced.
    • Explain insights you have gained about your own cultural identity by applying the model to yourself.
  • Describe how these aspects to your identity intersect.
