Prepare a written analysis of the issue (minimum 5 pages). Include the following:
1. Description of its antecedents (i.e., its root causes),
2. The community organizing strategies currently being used to address the problem (if
any),
3. An overview of some of the other health education methods employed to address the
health issue, if applicable.
4. Include a reference list of at least 5 references (properly cited), of which at least two
must be professional peer-reviewed journals.
5. It is also required that you include additional sources of information (e.g., alternative
and progressive printed and broadcast media, CBO reports, issue papers, etc.

used to address it for topic approval. I encourage you to choose a health issue you feel
passionate about and that can be addressed through community organizing. It is suggested, but
not required, that you have also identified and mention an organization or group that you might
work with for the remainder of the project to fulfill course requirements.

Bringing awareness to mental health issues is becoming an increasing challenge. Even though
many people have made an effort to bring awareness to the issue, mental health and mental
illnesses have a specific level of stigma that takes away any progress that has been made. There
has been a rising concern about making mental health support accessible to the youth. Several
self-diagnoses by young people will eventually become harmful to their health, especially when
these young people start looking for treatment plans based on their self-diagnosis. Furthermore,
many people don’t still consider mental health issues as serious issues that require medical
intervention. Several organizations are committed to dispelling several misconceptions about
mental health. For instance, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) is
committed to creating community support networks for individuals with mental health issues.
