Elsie Ekdahl According to the CDC, the number one leading cause of death is heart disease. (2021) Heart disease can cause strokes, heart attacks, and heart failure. The CDC statistics for 2021 state that 695,547 people died of heart disease. This is a scary number, but it can get scarier. In 2019, Medical News Today reported that heart disease was also the leading cause of death six years ago with total number of deaths being 647,5457. (2019) That means there ahs been a 7.16% increase in deaths caused by heart disease in Americans. These numbers can be terrifying when it is hard to grasp just how crucial they can be. There are some other statistics that the CDC have involving heart diseases. 47% of Americans are at risk of developing a heart disease. (2023) That means that roughly 157 billion citizens are participating in risky behavior that can result in a heart disease. Personally, this made me feel a little scared. I developed a murmur after having a perfectly healthy heart, so I could definitely rationalize myself being able to develop a disease. My family also has a past with heart disease, therefore I am more at risk for developing such. Our community, and myself, could probably benifit in practicing safer lifestyles for the safety of their heart. The CDC reccomends that you have a healthy diet, healthy weight, exercise, and refrain from smoking. (2023) Like I said, I too need to follow the advice that I have given. Having a healthy diet can keep your heart healthy enough to fight disease. Having a healthy weight can make sure your heart does not have any added strain to it, while either working less for underweight individuals or more for overweight individuals. Exercise keeps the heart healthy by “keeping it on it’s toes” as my grandmother used to say. Smoking is terrible for our lungs and for our hearts, the added chemicals are wreaking havoc on my body personally. I plan on talking with my doctor about quitting, because I personally want to fight the statistics. Word Count: 343References:Center for Disease Control and Prevention. (2021). FastStats. Death Rates and Causes of Death
COLLAPSE
According to Vital Statistics of the United States report of 2016, in 2013, a total of 2,596,993 number of deaths were recognized within the country. There was almost 731.9 deaths per 100,000 U.S. standard population and life expectancy was recorded at 78.8 years from birth to end. Leading cause of deaths were due to following reasons; heart disease, cancer, chronic lower respiratory diseases, accidents, stroke, Alzheimeràdisease, diabetes, influenza and pneumonia, kidney failure due to kidney disease, suicide, septicaemia, liver disease, hypertension, Parkinsonàdisease, and pneumonitis because of solids and liquids (Xu et al. June 30, 2016).
If we consider the study and survey then one can say, most of the people who died belong to an age group of 55´. Therefore, there is no measure change recorded as compare to data that recorded for previous year (for 2012) where it is observed that there is decline in deaths as per age groups but overall death rate is recorded as consistent with previous year (2012) while life expectancy is constant as recorded in 2012 (Xu et al. June 30, 2016).
In my family there is alot of issues with cholesterol, diabetes, I personally have Maythurner Syndrome, a sibling has Marphans Disease, and there is alos mental health issues within my family. So these statistics can be scary as our chances of falling into these statistics are relatively high. Also, I identified a few more similar kind of heart disease cases in which most people had crossed 50 years when they got to know they have serious heart disease (Xu et al. June 30, 2016).
So, I would like suggest that people must understand that there is always a great need to keep regular check-ups of your body so that to catch any possible severe disease at the early stage of the beginning and the right treatment can help to save lives. Otherwise, if any severe disease crosses a late stage, then there may be nothing left except to hope for best in how long one can survive with heavy medical treatments that costs high as well (Xu et al. June 30, 2016).
