Purpose:

The purpose of this assignment is to allow your group to demonstrate your understanding of the technology and tools needed for big data analytics and develop the Technology-related sections on your Big Data Analytics proposal, and to receive feedback from the instructor.

Directions

You will develop a short paper that addresses the technology aspects of your Final Project. There are two sections of your Big Data Analytics Proposal that address technology: Technologies and Tools, and Technology Selection.

First, provide a brief description of your proposed big data project. Then, identify the types of technologies and tools (specific product names are not required) that would be required for a big data analytics implementation in your selected organization, and the role each plays in the analytics ecosystem. This should include technologies currently in place that will become a part of the overall solution (such as data warehouses, data marts, etc.) and emerging technologies that could be of benefit to the organization. Then, provide an explanation of the Technology Selection process and who would be involved.

Your paper should be no more than one and one-half pages, double-spaced (not counting a cover sheet and references page) and should be in Word format (not PDF). Since it will become part of your Final Project, this paper should be written for presentation by the senior IT manager/CIO to the CEO of the organization. (It is not written “to” the CEO, but is written for C-Suite executives to read.) Incorporate feedback from your instructor as you develop the Tools and Technologies and Technology Selection sections of your Final Project.
