IMAT 637 – Discussion question

Description

Hi, Please read and contribute to peers’ discussion in 100 words minimum each with credible references in APA style.

Peer 1: Artificial Intelligence is an emerging technology or management practice that affects or will affect IT acquisition management. Contracting is a major business activity in which organizations lose between 4% to 50% on a given deal due to inefficiencies in the execution of the contract(Rich, 2018). GoGwilt(2022) states that” contracts powered by AI are far more efficient in every aspect, making for a better experience for you, your clients, and every party involved”

The basic challenge most firms face is that they have a huge number of contracts and hence face difficulty in keeping track of them due to the following reasons:

  •           Lack of uniformity in the contracts
  •           Difficulty in managing, organizing, and updating contracts
  •           Extracting data from the contracts
  •           Use of a lot of specialized manpower to go through the contracts

Managing the drafting process of contracts

Example: An IT company with many contracts would take weeks to track the negotiation terms, clauses, dates, renewal terms, etc. To ensure that all necessary clauses are uploaded, how AI will help is as follows:

  •           Data of the contract can be easily extracted and clarified
  •           The negotiation points and terms of the contract can be easily reviewed
  •           The chances of a dispute are minimized

AI can increase the number of contracts and ensure the swift execution of new contracts. AI will ensure standardization of the contract contents by using the software and tools available.  AI will also assess whether the risks of the contract of human intervention is minimized. The due diligence and execution of contract terms will be done by AI software easily(Rich, 2018).

In summary, artificial intelligence will ensure a standardized contract with minimal error and reduce the routine work of the lawyers. High quality will be ensured, and the contract terms will be executed with minimal errors. Further, AI is also slated to change the face of marketing by using voice modulation, which will identify applicable and useful patterns that human beings can never find. The AI software tools will be obsolete and will soon depend heavily on AI to design campaigns and create personalized marketing by effectively segmenting customers and strategizing.

PEER 2: A technology that is already affecting IT acquisition management now and in the future is the influence of the internet. The world has become more globalized and digitalized more than a decade ago. More businesses are established through online platforms to cater to the need of customers in the online market. During and after the last pandemic, doing business online increased as more people relied on the internet as a reliable source for their needs. To stay up-to-date with the demand trends in the market, informed business practice is vital with the internet of behavior (IoB) that offers more insight into consumer behavior. Having a competitive advantage over other organizations on the online platform makes the IoB relevant. The IoB gathers information on how devices are used to learn more about user behavior, interests, and preferences. Like the internet of things (IoT), IoB delves into consumer activities to retrieve and analyze data through online sources to determine the reasons for such trends. (e IoB attempts to comprehend user online activity data from a human psychology perspective(Javaid et al., 2022). The IoB can influence the IT acquisition of any organization interested to have a competitive edge in the market to out-compete its rivals. The organization has to find the current trend and develop a strategy to attract customers to patronize their offers.
