IAT activity
Description
For this activity, visit the Implicit Attitudes website at https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html and follow the link at the bottom by clicking “I wish to proceed.” There are approximately 15 different IAT tests listed on this page. Participate in TWO or THREE of these tests on different topics. Follow the instructions complete the demonstration. Be sure to write down on your assignment the test that you completed and the results that are presented at the end of each IAT (you can screenshot your results or just describe what it said). If your feedback was that ‘there were too many errors to determine a result,’ then do an additional IAT so that you get accurate results. After finishing the tests, read the Q3ection – Frequently Asked Questions (harvard.edu).
1. What did the results say? (include screenshot of explain results). Did you have an implicit attitude in either of the tests?
2. Does your implicit attitude (according to the IAT results) match your explicit attitude?
3. According to the IAT FAQ page, if your IAT shows that you have an implicit preference for one group over another, does that mean you are prejudiced? Explain.
4. According to the IAT FAQ page, does eye-hand coordination affect the results? Whether you are left-handed or right-handed? The order in which you did the two parts?
5. Were there any things presented in the IAT that might have influenced your results (e.g., words that you consistently categorized incorrectly, etc.)?
6. Do you consider your results to be accurate? Why or why not?
