One of our first discussion assignments introduced us to the Roman medical writer Celsus whose On Medicine is one of our most comprehensive resources of medical treatments in antiquity. Scholars, and reasonably so, have mixed opinions on the gravity of his medical knowledge. Is he an innovator, a brilliant doctor, or just a methodic compiler?
