FNU Homecare Providers and The Need for Disease Surveillance Discussion

Question Description

Policies to Encourage Judicious Use of Antibiotics, Disease Surveillance and Family Nurse Practitioner

Nurses play a critical role in the provision of healthcare services to clients suffering from various complications. Effective discharge of the nursing functions is anchored on the healthcare organizations’ ability to streamlining policies tailored towards regulations of use of the antibiotics (Ancillotti et al., 2018). Some patients may end up misusing antibiotics due to a lack of knowledge or their compromised mental state. Therefore, nurses and nursing organizations should create awareness through public meetings and community outreach initiatives to educate members on the importance of safe antibiotics consumption (Ancillotti et al., 2018). Healthcare stakeholders should liaise with nurses to draft policies guiding the effective use of antibiotics.

There is a correlation between domestic and global disease surveillance. Global disease surveillance, such as the statistical and epidemiological process of examining Covid-19 patterns, is done at a large scale (across the world). On the other hand, domestic disease surveillance is the comprehensive process of collecting and analyzing the disease data at a household level (Cameron et al., 2014). Household and global disease surveillance enable epidemiologists to develop the best response to containment measures. For example, the CDC has limited the spread of the Covid-19 disease through integrated household and global analysis of the disease patterns.

The family nurse practitioners play essential roles in enhancing access to healthcare by family members. For example, they provide professional advice on best dietary requirements, best public health practices, and offer therapeutic services if a family member is ailing from any mental disorder (Woo et al., 2017). They diagnose disease and administer drugs.
