Florida Atlantic University Philosophical Views on Nature of a Person Discussion

Please answer the following question:

1. What are the leading views on the nature of persons over time, as elaborated upon in the class readings and lectures, such as the Schneider book, the Olson piece, and the Parfit article discussed in the last class? Contrast these different views by identifying their strengths and weaknesses. Should you walk into a Center for Mind Design, how would your view of the nature of a person impact your decision to enhance, or not enhance? Finally, what does Parfit think of the Ego theory, in particular? What is the Bundle Theory and what is his case for it? Which view do you favor, overall (if any)? Your answer should be between 5 and 8 double-spaced pages to give yourself time to do this.
