EKU Elevation as A Function of Horizontal and Graphing Data Worksheet
Description
Introduce the data
Describe what your variables represent. Is it the number of hours people slept last week? Is it a company’s revenue in USD? Be sure to introduce what your data means and which axis you’ll be placing it on.
Show a scatter plot of the data and discuss it.
Make sure you put the correct values on the correct axes. Label your axes (with words). Describe what you see. Does the data follow a pattern? Is there a shape? Which shape? Are there any data points that look strange or out of place? Be sure to describe it well enough that even people who can’t see the graph would be able to picture it clearly in their minds.
- Perform a regression on the data.
Depending on the shape of your data, you’ll want to fit a curve to it. If your data looks exponential, make sure to use an exponential function. If your data looks quadratic, use a quadratic function. We have done this as an activity in class, and I discussed it during more than one lecture.
