  • *Note: you may use any type of presentation software as long as you can post an accessible link or file to the discussion board. There are many different types of presentation software out there, so feel free to be creative if you wish!

Instructions:

STEP ONE: Choose Course Concepts

1. Review the Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for EDUC 1300:
   1. Students will explore, identify, and apply psychological theories of learning, cognition, and motivation.
   2. Students will identify and apply effective learning strategies.
   3. Students will evaluate and implement academic and interpersonal skills needed to achieve college, career, and personal goals.

1. Choose at least one major concept from the course you have learned that you feel has helped you master eachof the three learning outcomes (goals). Explain how these concepts have helped you meet the outcome. You will choose at least three different concepts in total (at least one per learning outcome). You must choose three different concepts.
   1. Provide an explanation/definition of the concepts/theories.
   2. Demonstrate/explain/show how your chosen topic helped you reach the outcome.
   3. Example: For the learning outcome students will explore, identify, and apply psychological theories of learning, cognition, and motivation, you might choose Grit and a Growth Mindset and explain how these have changed your learning goals, how you study, etc.

STEP TWO: Introduction, Mission Statement, and Goals

1. Begin your project with an introduction. Include your name, our class, and a creative title.
2. What is your mission statement? Provide your mission statement. You may include what you entered in ACES or you may create a new mission statement.
3. Who is the most influential person(s), movements, concepts/ideas in your life? Share anything about your family/friends/support network and how this network has helped you in college. You may include pictures, quotes, or anything else that helps us get to know you!
4. What are your academic and career goals? Tell us about your long-term and short-term academic and career goals. Be Specific and make sure you label “Academic Goals” and “Career Goals” in your completed project.

STEP THREE: Complete the Project

If you Choose the Essay Response:

Paragraph One: Introduction, Mission Statement, and Goals

Begin your essay with your introduction paragraph (Minimum 150 words). Include your personal information, your mission statement, and your influential persons/concepts in this section.

Paragraph Two: Student Learning Outcome One

Begin your paragraph with an explanation/definition of your chosen concept (Minimum 100 words). Demonstrate/explain how this chosen concept helped you master this learning goal.

Paragraph Three: Student Learning Outcome Two

Begin your paragraph with an explanation/definition of your chosen concept (Minimum 100 words). Demonstrate/explain how this chosen concept helped you master this learning goal.

Paragraph Four: Student Learning Outcome Three

Begin your paragraph with an explanation/definition of your chosen concept (Minimum 100 words). Demonstrate/explain how this chosen concept helped you master this learning goal.

Paragraph Five: Academic Goals and Career Goals

Begin this paragraph with an explanation of your short-term and long-term academic goals and an overall career goal (Minimum of 150 words). Provide an explanation of how your chosen concepts or what you have learned in EDUC 1300 (be specific) will help you reach these goals.

If you Choose the Presentation:

Slides 1-2: Introduction, Mission Statement, and Goals

Include a title slide with your personal information, your mission statement, and a slide with your influential persons or concepts.

Slide 3: Student Learning Outcome One

Include a slide with an explanation/definition of your chosen concept. Demonstrate/explain how this chosen concept helped you master this learning goal.

Slide 4: Student Learning Outcome Two

Include a slide with an explanation/definition of your chosen concept. Demonstrate/explain how this chosen concept helped you master this learning goal.

Slide 5: Student Learning Outcome Three

Include a slide with an explanation/definition of your chosen concept. Demonstrate/explain how this chosen concept helped you master this learning goal.

Slides 6-7: Academic Goals and Career Goals

Include a slide for your short-term and long-term goals and your overall career goal. Provide an explanation of how your chosen concepts or what you have learned in EDUC 1300 (be specific) will help you reach these goals.

• Organization/Presentation: 10 pts
