COM 3462 FAU Conflict and Communication Paper
Question Description
I’m working on a communications writing question and need support to help me study.
A 6-7-page Reflective Research Paper assignment (does not include Works Cited pages) is designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of a particular Conflict and Communication topic as well as the application to “real life” situations. Students will identify a personal conflict and/or communication challenge/problem, and identify appropriate theories for successful resolutions of that issue/challenge/problem. Also, the research process, as well as the format of the Reflective Research Paper, will provide valuable experience for upper-level course work and future writing assignments. The content of the Reflective Research Paper is important, but so is demonstrating your ability to follow instructions and to pay attention to details. Also, there will be high standards for spelling, grammatically correct sentence construction, and lack of typing errors.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- The Reflective Research Paper is written in the MLA (Modern Language Association) format–books on the MLA are available in libraries and bookstores, and/or see online MLA sites.
- The Preliminary Outline is 1 to 2 pages, double-spaced, typed pages.
- The final version of the Reflective Research Paper is 6 to 7 double-spaced pages–not counting the Works Cited pages.
- The top, bottom, left, and right margins are 1 inch and 1/2 inches. (When is it ½ inches?–See ‘Using the MLA’ Announcement.)
- You must use a minimum of 10 references/sources (dated 2008 and higher). This does not include our textbook. If you use your textbook as a reference, you must count this as your 11th source. You must not rely solely on your textbook. I will be watching this closely.
- The draft of your Final Outline will be submitted with the final version of your Reflective Research Paper.
- Be sure to use appropriate citing techniques as dictated in the MLA manual. This includes citings for direct quotes or paraphrasing sources. Failure to do so is considered Plagiarism (See examples in the MLA for source citations and references).
- More detailed information will be forthcoming on How To Write A Reflective Research Paper.
You must include a Final Outline of your Reflective Research Paper. The Final Outline MUST be typed, following the MLA format, have only 3 Main Points, and include at least 2 Supporting Statements for each Main Point discussed. Below is the outline format attachment students must follow for your Final Outline assignment. Also, feel free to use this Outline format to help you formulate the structure and organization of your Reflective Research Paper as you gather your thoughts and ideas. The blank lines indicate where you will fill in your typed information. (You may use more than one line to type/fill-in the information in your Outline as needed.) See attachment below.
