Death is a normal part of development. I would like you to analyze this by studying obituaries/death notices.

Read 75 obituaries. Find them either on-line or in a hard copy newspaper. Legacy.com is a good resource, but there are others that a Google search will find for you. It will be easier for you to use only one source and over as few days as possible unless you are going to be creative.

First, tell me your source(s) and which days were studied.Include a list of the name, age, and gender of each obituary.Write out how many obituaries you analyzed: (75)

Next, please analyze the obituaries by the numbers.  

As a total group please give: 

Age range: List the youngest death and the oldest death. If there isn’t an age or a date of birth given to figure out the age of the deceased include this in your analysis. Tell me how many obituaries did not include an age and take this into consideration when figuring out the average.

Average age of death. Please show the number to the hundredth’s column (two past the decimal point of the whole number.)

Mode…which age of death occurs the most. Please include how many times that age (s) occurs.

Next, please break down the analysis by gender.

For females please give:

Please choose one of the obituaries you found meaningful and write a paragraph or two about the person and why the obituary was meaningful to you. 

Creativity time: write your own obituary as if you have died. If this is taboo for you, please write an obituary of a made-upperson. Also include an additional paragraph about how your obituary is the same as the obituaries you read and/or how it is different than the obituaries you analyzed.
