Review the materials listed under AR and MR Overview and Application Paper in the WK9: Learning Materials before working on the paper. Read the following Research Requirements carefully. Respond to each question in the order listed, and number each example.
Research Requirements
Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR)
Write a thorough definition of AR (1/4 page).
Write a thorough explanation of MR (1/4 page).
Provide examples of how AR / MR technologies are currently being used in each of the following 3 categories*:
Category 1: Communication, Education & Training; Category 2: Research & Visualization (including architecture); Category 3: Healthcare.
*Include 2 examples from each or the 3 categories for a total of 6 examples (1/2 page each).
Note: There may be overlap, such as an educational app to train healthcare workers. That is fine, provided they are different examples.
Number each example.
- Describe/explain the example (at least 1/4 page, not including image).
Include an image with each example.
Include link to the source with each example.
- Total section length 3 1/2 pages (approx. 1/4 page for each definition & 1/2 page for each example (description/image/link).
- Mixed Reality Spectrum (also referred to as Virtuality Continuum)
- Write a thorough definition/explanation.
Discuss how the evolution of mobile devices is blurring the line between AR and MR.
Note: Companies such as Apple, Google and Samsung are doing research that will shape the future of AR/MR.
