Becoming parents is an exciting millstone in anyoneàlife; that comes with big responsibilities. During pregnancy, it can be very stressful due to many different issues and complications a mother goes through.  Especially passing on any genetic diseases that can be harmful to the baby. Thatàwhere genetic testing comes in handy and can help determine whether your unborn child will inherit those genes. Genetic testing looks for changes, sometimes called mutations or variants, in your DNA (CDC, 2023).  It is very useful in many areas of medicine and can change medical care for you and your family. The initial cause of a disease state may lie within individual organism itself, and the disease is then said to be idiopathic, innate, primary or essential (Scarpelli, 2023).  With genetic screening, there may be some ethical issues that can bring up some concerns.  Some feel that genetic screening would lead to discrimination of those individuals, which posses)nferior genes. Also, some people fear that genetic screening will lead to reproductive decisions being based on the genetics of their child. Being able to genetically design your unborn child in my opinion, is altering godàcreation.  Yes, there are positive attributes for genetic screening, such as if the unborn child we found to be positive for a cancer-causing gene, then the individual could modify their behavior in order to prevent expression of that gene. Like everything, genetic testing manipulation can be dangerous.  The risk associated with genetic testing are emotional, social, and or financial consequences of the test results.  It can be a lot of stress on the soon to be parents, they can feel anger, depressed, anxious, or guilty about genetic testing and its results.
